What is 3D Printing?

3D printing is an additive manufacturing process where materials are joined together to make objects from 3D model data (CAD). Typically, 3D printing is a layer-by-layer process where part geometries are “grown,” fusing with the previous layer. 3D printing processes can build objects in plastics, photopolymers, reaction polymers, composites, metal, glass, and other materials.

  1. Expert Precision Assessment:For complex assemblies or special process requirements, please upload your STL/STEP/IGS files directly on our website or email them to jeanguo@scojetchina.com. Our engineering team will provide a formal quotation within 48 hours (business days), including material recommendations, tolerance analysis, and a detailed cost breakdown.
  2. Physical Sample Assessment:If you only have a physical sample, you can mail it to us. We will perform free 3D scanning and reverse modeling to provide a quote.

Tip: The quote includes basic support removal. If you require painting, silk screening, or precision tapping, please mention this in the notes, and we will include it in the total price with no hidden fees.

Our standard production cycle is typically 3-5 business days (from file confirmation to shipment), depending on the quantity, size, and selected process:

  • Small/Simple Prototypes (FDM/SLA):Can be shipped within 48 hours (requires selecting “Expedited Service”).
  • Medium Complexity Parts:Usually takes 3-4 days, including necessary post-processing (e.g., support removal, light sanding).
  • Large Batch Orders or Special Materials (e.g., Nylon Sintering, Metal Printing): May take 5-7 days or longer.

How to Shorten Delivery Time:

  • Confirm Files Early:Ensure uploaded files are “watertight” (no holes/errors) to reduce repair time.
  • Choose Expedited Channel:We offer “Next-Day” printing services (additional fee applies), ideal for urgent projects.
  • Simplify Post-Processing:If you only need support removal without surface finishing, lead time can be significantly reduced.

Upon receiving your drawings, we will immediately evaluate them and provide a delivery schedule accurate to the hour.

International shipping rates are not fixed. We match the optimal logistics solution based on your time sensitivity and budget. Costs are primarily calculated based on the final volumetric weight (L×W×H) of the package and the destination.

What We Do Beyond Just Shipping:

  • Multi-Carrier Rate Comparison: We connect in real-time with DHL, FedEx, UPS, and specialized freight lines to automatically select the most cost-effective channel for you. (Using our member accounts, you can typically save 20%-60% compared to official list prices.)
  • Packaging Optimization: 3D printed parts often have irregular shapes. Our packing experts use nesting arrangements or custom filling to minimize package volume, directly reducing your shipping costs.
  • Customs Assistance:We provide professional commercial invoices and HS Code suggestions to help your shipment clear customs in the destination country smoothly.

Get a Quote: Simply tell us your destination country/region and expected delivery time. We will list three logistics options in your quote: “Economy,” “Standard,” and “Express.”

Absolutely! Material selection is key to successful 3D printing. To give you the most precise recommendation, please tell us the core application of your part. You can refer to the quick guide below or describe your specific needs:

Quick Selection Guide:

1. For rapid visual validation or concept models (Low Cost / High Detail):

  • Recommended: Standard Resin or PLA.
  • Features: Smooth surface, extremely high detail, low cost, but brittle and not heat-resistant.

2. For functional prototypes requiring durability (Mechanical Strength / Heat Resistance):

  • Recommended: ABS, PETG, or Nylon (PA).
  • Features: High impact resistance, good heat tolerance (up to 80°C-100°C+), suitable for snaps, housings, or load-bearing parts.

3. For flexible components (e.g., seals, shock absorbers, phone cases):

  • Recommended: TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) or Flexible Resin.
  • Features: Rubber-like elasticity, bendable and stretchable.

4. For high-precision, smooth-surface end products (e.g., jewelry, dental, figurines):

  • Recommended: Tough Resin or ABS-Like Resin.
  • Features: Almost no layer lines, paintable and post-processable, appearance close to injection-molded parts.

5. For extreme requirements (Heat >200°C, metallic look, aerospace-grade lightweight):

  • Recommended: PEEK/ULTEM (High-performance plastics) or Metal 3D Printing (Stainless Steel, Aluminum Alloy, Titanium Alloy).
  • Note: These materials have higher costs and require separate evaluation.

Key Information We Need:
To lock in the best option from above, please inform us about:

  1. Load Conditions: Will the part withstand impact, tension, or is it just for display?
  2. Operating Environment: Will it be exposed to high heat (specific temp?), chemical solvents, UV light, or outdoor rain?
  3. Precision & Appearance: Is a smooth surface required? Are layer lines acceptable?
  4. Budget & Timeline: Are there strict cost controls or delivery deadlines?

Expert Advice: If you are still unsure, Nylon is generally the safest “all-rounder” for functional parts, while Standard Resin is the top choice for visual models. Upload your design file, and our engineers will provide a free quote with a material comparison analysis within 24 hours.

Accuracy depends on the process you choose:

  • Stereolithography (SLA/DLP):Ideal for high-precision details, with tolerances reaching ±0.05-0.1mm. Smooth surface, suitable for prototypes and precision assembly.
  • Industrial FDM / Nylon Sintering (SLS):Ideal for functional parts, with typical tolerances of ±0.15-0.2mm or 2% of dimension (whichever is greater).

Our Quality Control Commitment:
Every order undergoes inspection via CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) or high-precision calipers before shipment. For parts with strict assembly requirements, please mark critical mating dimensions in your file. Our engineers will pre-adjust for tolerance compensation to ensure perfect assembly upon receipt. If you need a formal report, we can provide a First Article Inspection (FAI) report.

You only need to upload your original design files (STL, STEP, IGES, etc.); no need to add supports yourself!

Free DFM (Design for Manufacturing) Analysis:
Before printing, our engineers automatically check your model and provide optimization suggestions, including:

  • Structural Reinforcement: Identifying and suggesting thickening of thin walls prone to breaking.
  • Cost/Time Optimization: Suggesting “hollowing out with drainage holes” to reduce material usage, or “splitting prints” to shorten lead time.
  • Orientation Optimization: Automatically selecting the best print angle to minimize layer lines affecting strength.

If your file has holes or non-manifold errors, we will repair it for free before printing and send you a confirmation image. We ensure your parts are not just “printable,” but also “usable and cost-effective.”

We understand that IP is your most valuable asset, so we treat confidentiality as our highest priority:

  1. Signing an NDA: We are always willing to sign a legally binding Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). You can contact us before uploading files to request a template, or simply send the agreement prepared by your legal department.
  2. Data Security: All transferred files are stored with SSL encryption and accessed only by authorized project team members.
  3. File Destruction Policy: Upon project delivery, at your request, we can permanently delete your source data and print records within 30 days. We never use your designs for display, reuse, or sale to third parties.

Many startups and large manufacturers trust our confidentiality system. Feel free to entrust your innovations to us.

3D printing is just the first step; professional post-processing can achieve an injection-molding quality or even better appearance. We offer a full range of surface treatment services:

  • Basic Treatment:Precise support removal and contact point sanding (included by default).
  • Smoothing:Vapor smoothing (for ABS/Nylon to eliminate layer lines), chemical polishing (for resin to achieve a mirror finish), putty sanding.
  • Coloring & Texturing:Professional primer + topcoat spraying (matching PANTONE colors), hand painting, logo silk screening, laser engraving.
  • Special Processes:Vacuum plating, UV curing, impregnation (for water tightness).

Effect Preview: If you are unsure about the result, tell us your target texture (e.g., “soft-touch,” “glossy black,” “matte white”), and we can provide free effect sample images or mail color cards for your reference.

3D printing offers significant advantages for low-volume production (1-100 pieces) because it requires no expensive molds and allows for zero-cost design changes.

Cost Decision Advice:

  • 1-50 Pieces: 3D printing is usually the optimal solution with low unit cost and fast speed.
  • 50-500 Pieces: Enters the “gray zone.” We will calculate the break-even point for you. If the part geometry is simple, we might suggest Vacuum Casting or Rapid Aluminum Molding, where the unit cost could be lower.
  • 500+ Pieces: Traditional injection molding is generally recommended.

Bulk Discounts: For 3D printing orders, we offer tiered discounts:

  • 10+ pieces: 5% off
  • 50+ pieces: 10% off
  • 100+ pieces: 15% off

Send us your quantity requirements, and we will provide a “3D Printing vs. Molding” cost comparison analysis report to help you make the most economical decision.
