Custom CNC Milling Service Company
Scojet CNC milling process produces custom prototypes and end-use production parts in as fast as 1 -3 day. We use 3-axis milling and 5-axis indexed milling processes to manufacture parts from more than 30 engineering-grade plastics and metals.
With machined production parts, you can also get more competitive pricing at higher quantities in addition to first article inspection (FAI) reporting, material certifications, and additional finishing options like anodizing and chromate plating.
Scojet offers instant pricing, on-demand lead times, and design-for-manufacturability feedback on materials and manufacturing processes for your custom CNC milled parts, no matter your industry. Get your instant quote today.
Our CNC milling service is commonly used for:
- Functional prototypes
- Jigs and Fixtures
- Production components in lower volumes
Our powerful CNC MILLING Capabilities!
Scojet 3 to 5-Axis CNC Milling Service
From 3-axis basics to intricate 5-axis projects, our precision CNC milling makes your designs come alive with unmatched accuracy and craftsmanship.
Types of CNC Mills
3-Axis
The most widely used type of CNC milling machine. The full use of the X, Y, and Z directions makes a 3 Axis CNC mill useful for a wide variety of work.
4-Axis
This type of router allows the machine to rotate on a vertical axis, moving the workpiece to introduce more continuous machining.
5-Axis
These machines have three traditional axes as well as two additional rotary axes. A 5-axis CNC router is, therefore, able to machine 5 sides of a workpiece at in one machine without having to remove the workpiece and reset. The workpiece rotates, and the spindle head is able to also move around the piece. These are larger and more expensive.
CNC Milling Tolerances & Standards
| Description | General Tolerance or Standard |
| Maximum Part Size | Milled parts up to 80” x 48” x 24” (2,032 x 1,219 x 610 mm). |
| Distance Dimensions | For features of size (Length, width, height, diameter) and location (position, concentricity, symmetry) +/- 0.005”. |
| Orientation and Form Dimensions | 0-12″ +/- 0.005″, Angularity 1/2 degree. For 24″ and beyond please consult Xometry’s Manufacturing Standards. |
| Precision Tolerances | We can manufacture and inspect to tight tolerances per your drawing specifications including GD&T callouts. |
| Minimum Feature Size | 0.020” (0.50 mm). This may vary depending on part geometry and chosen material. |
| Threads and Tapped Holes | We can accommodate any standard thread size. We can also machine custom threads; these will require a manual quote review. |
| Surface Finish | The standard finish is as-machined: 125 Ra or better. Additional finishing options can be specified when getting a quote. |
| Edge Condition | Sharp edges will be broken and deburred by default. Critical edges that must be left sharp should be noted and specified on a print. |

scojet cnc milling Surface Treatment
| Material Type | Specific Material | Surface Treatment | Technical Features |
| Stainless Steel | 304, 316, 17-4PH | PVD Titanium Coating, Electrolytic Polishing | PVD titanium coating enhances wear resistance (hardness HV2000+), electrolytic polishing achieves mirror finish. |
| Titanium Alloy | Ti-6Al-4V, TC4 | Nitriding Treatment, Laser Texturing | Nitriding treatment achieves surface hardness of HV1000, laser texturing creates microstructure for anti-slip effect. |
| Nickel-Based Superalloy | Inconel 718 | Electrolytic-Mechanical Composite Polishing | Ra<0.05μm, eliminates stress layers. |
| Tungsten-Copper Alloy | WCu20 (80% tungsten + 20% copper) | Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) Diamond + Electrolytic Polishing | Surface hardness HV4000, thermal conductivity 600W/m·K, used for high-power laser heat sinks. |
| Biodegradable Magnesium Alloy | WE43(Mg-4Y-3RE) | Micro-Arc Oxidation + Hydrothermal Synthesis HA Coating | Excellent biocompatibility, controllable degradation rate (0.2mm/year). |
Custom CNC Milling Finishes
Surface Finish on Milled Parts
Typically, we break (debur) the edges on all machined parts. All machined plastic parts are left as-machined, which may leave visible tool marks. Some metal parts, on the other hand, allow more choice. Parts left with sharp edges should be handled with care.
